Great, with a side of horror! (by ariasn1) |
This movie was near perfect to me, and let me explain why: The actors portraying the three can you call them anti hero's incredibly well. I don't quite know how accurate they were in comparison to the real criminals but as standalone characters they were pitch perfect even the Rock, who may have actually stolen the show for me .Tony Shaloub is no actor to be laughed at, he played such an interesting 3 dimensional yet despicable character that forced me to try to come to terms with how I felt with him being the victim. And what really made the movie for me was the phenomenal writing <more> |
Awesome Movie!! (by tonyhurleypro) |
Caught an advanced screening of Pain & Gain in Miami and I must say this movie is without doubt going to be a huge hit. Absolutely hysterical and action packed. Marky Mark proves yet again that he is one of the best action/comedy stars of our time. Before seeing this movie I was never a fan of Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson or his supposed "acting" skills but after seeing him play a former criminal and hilarious born again Christian in this film I have to say I am now a fan. Go watch this movie and prepare to be laughing hysterically from beginning to end. The fact that the <more> |
An Apology from Michael Bay (by amcint01) |
Holy cow, did this movie take me by surprise. I knew nothing going in, but I am well aware of Bay's reputation. This was by far one of the strangest films I've seen in a long time, but it worked - so help me Science, it worked. Out of most everything so far from directors and filmmakers I like Oz from Sam Raimi comes to mind this had the most passion behind it from everyone involved. Bay makes up for the entire Transformers trilogy with this, and puts to rest once and for all the question of whether he is capable of being an actually 'filmmaker'. This reeks of a good ol' <more> |
Cult classic (by Adrian232) |
Let me start this out by saying I hate Michael Bay. I hate Michael Bay. OK, OK, he's not the worst director in Hollywood. He's got his s**t together, and people are willing to pay him to glue together the worst movie ideas and turn them into a semi-watchable blockbuster. However, Pain & Gain isn't one of these movies."Wait, how does that make it good?" You ask? Well, my position is that Bay actually cared about this movie. He pitched this movie for years, even when he was a more struggling director, and nobody would buy it. Eventually, this movie was made on a measly <more> |
The Best Movie of 2013 So Far (by TheGreatGeekGod) |
I LOVED THIS MOVIE, were the first word to come out of my mouth when the end credits rolled, I was smiling through the whole thing, except when the movie is serious. Another thing is that if you're afraid the film was going to make them anti-heroes based on the trailers then worried no more because the movie shows that these are bad guys that did terrible stuff but they're so dumb that it's funny. The movie is funny but when it's serious it is and when you look at other true story movies and say "well that's odd they sort of made it a dark comedy" and this movie <more> |
A good f@@king time! (by Seth-begley) |
Pain and gain is a very fast paced, entertaining movie . The Rock, Mark Wahlberg, and Anthony Mackie are all hilarious as three stupid body builders who decide to kidnap a lawyer and take all his money. Everything goes horribly wrong as these morons do not know what they are doing at all. This leads to some very darkly funny scenes. Tony shalhoub, Ed Harris, and Rob Corddry are also great in their supporting roles. The movie also has some very good fast paced action scenes that will get your blood pumping. This movie is definitely worth checking out! And I will be buying it when it comes out <more> |
Pumped Up and Hugely Entertaining (by Ramascreen) |
Finally! After that dreadful Transformers franchise, the Michael Bay who brought us those Bad Boys movies is back! PAIN & GAIN is pumped-up and hugely entertaining. Mark Wahlberg, Dwayne Johnson, and Anthony Mackie bring the old saying, in way over your head, to whole new level of hilarious. Their performances are like The Three Stooges with biceps. A crime comedy doesn't get better than this..PAIN & GAIN is your textbook Michael Bay, there are beautiful girls, fast cars, that 360-degree spinning shot where the camera circles the actors, plus it's back in Miami too, the land <more> |
Interesting Take on a Surprisingly True Story, (by lesleyharris30) |
Pain & Gain is a great movie with a very well developed storyline and an outstanding cast that have the ability both serious and funny which made them great casting for a movie I like this.Although it is very hard to believe, this is actually based on a true story, and as the movie continues it becomes more and more unbelievable, but are robed every now and again that it is actually a true story, which was clever because they obviously knew people would be thinking that throughout. This movie has different characters narrating throughout, which is something I have complained about in past <more> |
The do'er, the ex-con, the geek and the Latin-millionaire (by Reno-Rangan) |
From the director, Michael Bay, who gave many mega blockbusters. Like the movie 'Bernie' it was also based on the true story which cinematically presented as a crime-comedy. 'Pain & Gain' centers around the three Miami bodybuilders who commits a series of crimes.Like everybody else, these three bodybuilder wants to live the American dream. Since they are poor, they plan together to abduct a rich man and fetch some money. But it won't go according to their plan, somehow they pull the incident back into their control. Now they are rich, but past begins to haunt their <more> |
