I was just thinking that this movie was just a time killer, but it was actually really really good. The story was different, and added in historical aspects. It worked with the history of the area, and it moved along at a good pace. There were a few good twists, and the acting was pretty good. I'd actually go out and purchase this movie, which is rare for me. It has become my favorite horror movie. Interesting, startling at times, and very engrossing. I just LOVED it. I loved the photos of the real life people that were involved at the end, as it was based on a true story and the actors <more>
that they got actually resemble the original people.
Good 'ghost' movie - Don't judge a film by its title (by makkalulu)
I thought this movie was one of the best 'horror' movies I have seen. It has to be made clear at this point that this is not a 'slasher' movie, in fact there is no slashing in it at all. Hence there wasn't much 'gore' and blood spilling, but that is not to say there wasn't any horrifying imagery, actually it was quite memorable and imaginative in that regard. There wasn't much new in terms of scares but there were plenty and the makers put great effort in keeping you on edge throughout by keeping you guessing what would come next. The acting was entirely <more>
acceptable and although I was worried at first that certain characters would get annoying they turned it around by the end. The two things the movie managed to achieve extremely well were atmosphere and historical context. At the end of the day even the best horror movies rarely compare well to great movie from other genres and generally only work if you 'let yourself believe' as such this movie achieved everything it could want to achieve. It's fits well onto a list with similarly well executed films such as The Awakening, Silent Hill 1, The Orphan and Sinister and was much better than a lot of the uninspired rest. Btw, yes, the naming was silly and almost made me not watch this but that doesn't take away anything from the actual movie itself. Also it didn't feel like a 'based on a true story for the sake of it' kind of movie and I was surprised, but din't really care to find out at the end.
I didn't want to see this. I didn't care about it. My daughter wanted to see it and was afraid she would become scared so I watched it with her. I cannot believe how wrong I was. This movie was excellent. The premise is NOT silly, or stupid, and it is not scary or gory. What it is, is quite frightening and the story line is believable and this may be the one "Based on a true story" horror movie that actually is based on a true story. The story line is also very interesting and rich in actual history that my daughter enjoyed and so did I. I really can't even believe it <more>
was as good as it was. Unfortunately, the ONLY reason I gave it a 9 is the name is kinda dumb. My daughter was like A haunting in Connecticut 2: ghosts of Georgia...ummm why isn't it just named a haunting in Georgia or ghosts of Georgia...lol Please go see this and enjoy it.
I would like to begin with questioning the 4.8 rating that the film has om IMDb at present. As a fan and viewer of all things horror this movie stands above the norm. The film for some reason is a sequel to 2009's The Haunting of Connecticut, but has no connection in story and characters, other then being based in the same state. I believe that if they had come up with an original title and cast a known actress in the lead this film would have thrived in the box office. The four actors cast as the Wyrick family were all excellent. Chad Michael Murray demonstrated why he should be a film <more>
lead in the future, acting the credible role of a father and husband while still looking good without the usual posturing and posing that many actors from similar age and TV back grounds have in the past Van Der Beek, Adam Brody, Shane West . Katee Sackhoff was her usual terrific self, hot and funny and playing a down to earth character, which as much as I like her tough chick roles is one of her strengths. Abigail Spencer was also terrific, as a mother and wife suffering from visions and denying her family gift/ curse. The most exceptional was Emily Alyn Lynn. She looks and plays the character of a girl about 7, but is an incredible actress, never sickeningly cute, never over acting, never annoying, but genuine and likable. The story is supposedly true at the end you even see the real life characters! and is relatively enjoyable. As usual I was wondering why they didn't just move but this was then actually voiced by a character. There is the expected twists, but while expected if was done in a measured way, not ridiculously contrived or unconnected to the story. You kind of expect it but it doesn't disappoint. The visual style used to present the ghosts is typical but not over done so you get surprised and jump without the visual taking you out of the movie. Director Tom Elkins is not a name I recognized before but will certainly look for in the future.
Fantastic movie! Good acting Chad Michael Murrey doesn't disappoint . A great ghost story and yet not overly scary but filled with thrills. Not a lot of gore but it does have it's carcass and buggy moments, but if you're looking for the heavy stuff like dismemberment or guts, this isn't the movie for you. I wasn't all disappointed with this movie. Everything takes off from the beginning and doesn't stop until the end. The movie dramatizes the true story but that's to be expected. It was a little predictable but otherwise fine. Effects, storyline, all impressive. <more>
Not much else to say, except really enjoyable and worth a second watch
"The Haunting in Connecticut 2: Ghosts of Georgia" is a satisfying supernatural tale with some genuinely frightening moments (by ersinkdotcom)
First off, let's just get something out of the way. "The Haunting in Connecticut 2: Ghosts of Georgia" never had a chance to succeed. With a paradoxical title like that, audiences are given a red flag immediately. If the producers of a movie can't decide on a better name for a film, then how could they make bigger decisions during production? Just pick a name! Was "Ghosts of Georgia" any more generic than "The Haunting in Connecticut?" The reason I sound so frustrated is because it deserves better. The Wyrick family moves into a country house in Georgia. <more>
Their daughter, Heidi, soon begins telling her parents she talks to a man who warns they're in danger. Upon investigating, they find out their house is located on land once owned by a stationmaster of the Underground Railroad. The souls of the slaves are restless and begin haunting the family for unknown reasons.Director Tom Elkins and writer David Coggeshall put together quite an impressive ghost story with "The Haunting in Connecticut 2: Ghosts of Georgia." While "based on a true story," it's obvious some creative license is utilized to spice things up. However, there are some genuinely frightening moments that will resonate with viewers. Let's just say Elkins and Coggeshall know our innermost fears and exploits them. The entire cast of "The Haunting in Connecticut 2: Ghosts of Georgia" put forth their best efforts and embrace their individual characters. You can tell they took the material seriously and ran with it. Chad Michael Murray plays the father of the family. Abigail Spencer takes on the role of the mother. Katee Sackhoff portrays Spencer's free-spirited sister who comes to live with them. Emily Alyn Lind is perfect in as the little girl Heidi. She embraces the role straight-faced with an air of authentic innocence."The Haunting in Connecticut 2: Ghosts of Georgia" is a good supernatural tale that should have been released in theaters like its predecessor. There are nice twists to the story, the acting is good, and the scares are genuinely creepy. Maybe it's selfish, but I was looking forward to seeing the movie on a big screen in a quiet atmosphere where it could have my full attention. Seeing the movie at home will provide genre fans with a satisfying experience, too.
Touching horror movie..is that even possible? (by tomlu1)
Acting is superb!!! The storyline deepens the more you watch it. And boy does it get good. It helps when you have seriously good actors though. So believable. The fact that it was based on a true story made this movie that much better. For a horror movie, this is by far, one of the best I've seen in a long, long, long time. And that's saying a lot seeing how picky I am when it comes to a good horror flick. Of course, this movie has the usual scary moments like with any horror movies, but the story behind it is very touching. Especially what happens towards the end. It's just a must <more>
see and a keeper to add to anyone's collection.I never rate movies a perfect score, but this one deserves a high 8 out of 10. That's really high for my standards. I should rate it a 7, but this movie was really good.
My first review, for a good reason! (by wilhanluciano)
It's the very first time that a movie makes me want to write a review. For the beginning, the cast was a perfect match, they were flawless for a horror movie, not too bad-ass neither too dumb-bass.I wasn't expect much thing after read the plot, but guess what! I was wrong, The Haunting in Connecticut 2 brings a solid plot about ghosts that in the end appeals for an emotional scene that is awesome. If you are looking for gore, blood and extreme horrifying things this one is not for youI don't know why low rating, but I think it is because the first movie wasn't so good as this <more>
one and everyone expected the worst. If you don't want a blockbuster movie with a remade and same history give it a try.PS: My review is most directly to people who are involved with horror movies and enjoy all kinds in the genre
